Abby update - April 27-29

Well, I rolled in late Saturday night from Wichita Falls only slightly behind Gordon and the kids and their busy weekend. But, I've got to tell you that Mr. Mom did a great job negotiating a full kid schedule, along with a little help from our friends...

Abby reports that she had a great time at the sleepover at Taylor's; that she had a good ride on Merlin at the therapy riding center; that she enjoyed going to agility with her agility friend, Mr. Pelton (and that Arby did well there); and that the HCCS pasta festival and talent show was fun.

Frank reports that he and dad had fun practicing lacrosse, that several friends watched his Yankees do well in winning a little tougher baseball game (the coach sent Frank in as relief pitcher with the innings loaded; Mr. Icewater-in-his-veins closed out the inning with only one run getting in, went three-up and three-down in the next inning, and got the save), and that the pasta festival talent show had far too many little girls turning cartwheels for his taste.

A special thank-you to Mr. Pelton for sharing part of our family's weekend. Wade has always encouraged Abby in her dog obedience and agility ever since she began working with Amigo about four years ago, and he was another of those faithful who stood near us during Abby's recovery. (Here is a picture of him bringing Shadow, his bearded collie, to visit Abby at Warm Springs--as you can see, Shadow really made Abby smile--she has that effect on people!). This weekend he not only took Abby and Arby to their agility lesson, but he also attended Frank's baseball game and shared some very special gifts with him, including a baseball signed by Bob Cerv, an outfielder for the Yankees and the A's, who also happens to be Wade's brother-in-law. So many people have cared for our whole family in so many ways...it's nice to know that, if I have to be away, friends like him and others are nearby. Thanks, Wade...

Finally, I just wanted to share some "make-up" Easter pictures with you. The weather was finally warm enough for Abby to wear the pretty dress her grandma sent, so we took some pictures with our own wildflowers (and dogs, of course!).

Hope you had a beautiful weekend too!
-a very grateful Mom of Abby and Frank and wife of Gordon
