Abby update - April 19

You all know that Abby loves Hill Country Christian School, but you may not know all the reasons why. There's no school there on Friday, so Abby and Frank are saying TGITh tonight! In fact, you can see that Frank and Arby are planning to sleep in...

Actually, we all love the concept--the idea that busy schedules keep families apart too much and that time with parents is valuable to a child's education, too. Friday, with its leisurely breakfasts, hikes around Wimberley, trips to the library, work on special projects, etc., is probably the kids' and my favorite day of the week. (And I usually get away with even adding in a few chores!).

Fridays off also mean that we can really enjoy Thursday evening activities, like tonight when we attended a farewell party on the San Marcos River for one of Gordon's co-workers, Tim. Tim and his wife Robin were among the first ones to join us in the emergency room at Brackenridge after Abby's accident--a source of quiet support that meant so much. At the party Robin and several others had their first chance to see Abby since her days in ICU. What a contrast! From ventilators, cranial monitors, and IVs to paddling canoes, throwing cast nets, and eating homemade ice cream! We've come so far...

Thanks to all of you who have been at our side at some point along the way.

Whooo-eeee!! Who is that hot looking red-headed chick in the purple?? She looks like she needs to take a dip to cool off- what were y'all thinking I meant??

That raw stream bank in the paddler picture needs some stabilization work.
