Abby update - January 24

We've decided that we love the therapy program at St. David's, but we hate Austin traffic! This morning's commute in the rain was a test of patience and reaction time. Thankfully, we made it unscathed, though late. Maybe we can beg them to let us have a later start time, since we're driving in from the "country..."

Once we got there it was worth it. Abby's OT worked with her on some fine motor skills assessment and then on what I thought was a pretty good challenge--tossing tennis balls back and forth between each other simultaneously (I'm not sure I'd be very good at it!). Her PT for today has an orthopedic background, so we were glad to hear that she worked on the tightness in Abby's neck. And the Speech Therapist continued to work on reading, memory, and math. Meanwhile, Frank and I worked on schoolwork and work-work in the waiting area, where we met more family members full of encouragement.

Since we were finished by noon, the kids and I took some time to run some errands in Austin (including eating our way through the sample tables at Central Market--one of their favorite activities!). We arrived home just ahead of Abby's teacher from Wimberley Junior High. More math and grammar--Abby's pretty strong on her grammar and her math is improving every day. Then piano practice and a little bit of homework after supper, a game of Mancala, and bed! Whew! We should have hit the energy supplement aisle at Central Market!

But, thanks to all of you, we've got the energy and support to make it (just the thought of that gift lasagna leftover in the fridge kept me going today), so thanks again for all you've done...
