Abby update - January 19

I'm writing early tonight, because I don't think that either Abby or I will be awake for too many more hours...

We had a busy, but rewarding, day at St. David's Rehab program today. Abby met with the physical, speech, and occupational therapists for an initial evaluation and then even got to do an additional hour of pool therapy. I was very impressed with the knowledge, approach, and capabilities of the therapists there. We also met some nice patients and families along the way, and, though none of them are young like Abby, I think that Abby will feel comfortable with the staff and program as long as we are around. And it certainly will be intense! She was pooped on her way home this afternoon and then did another hour of schoolwork with Mrs. Ruiz from Wimberley ISD. Perhaps we'll tweak the schedule as we find out how much is the right amount for Abby's stamina now, but, for the moment, we're scheduled to do therapy there four days per week.

And--thanks for praying--we made it through the Austin traffic okay!

Now, for some dinner, a DVD, and bed...everyone's idea of a big Friday night, right?
