Abby update - January 12

It was another day of mixed blessings in this recovery saga today. Today Abby had her last sessions (at least for awhile) with her home health speech therapist and physical therapist. Once again, we've been blessed by professionals who put their whole heart into their work and relationships, and then we have to say "so long...," but such is the nature of recovery. Though both these ladies have done a great job with Abby at home (both her memory and her walking have improved a lot under their guidance), they also gave us a lot of confidence that our opportunities at St. David's (starting Monday) will be good for Abby.

Abby also had school with her home-bound teacher this afternoon, but we made time for some fun "applied" therapy today as well. Abby and Frank helped plant a portion of our yard with wildflower seeds, then Abby attended a Bingo Night with the Vests tonight. (Good thing our recreation therapist at Warm Springs got her reintroduced to bingo!--Thanks Laura!) Abby didn't win any money, but she did have a lot of fun and reportedly kept the Vests laughing as well...

I think Abby's teaching me a new motto: "Life, it's the best therapy, so live it!" We're thankful that we have this chance...
Love,
Lee Ann, Gordon, Abby & Frank
